Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer was one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Her father was a theatre enthusiast from a very young time. When he was a college student at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of many performances. After joining the airforce and appearing in an air force production in Biloxi together with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 1955. Their baby son Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after he left the Airforce in 1957. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of the show Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local children's Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for six years. Lelisa Billingsley, also known as Lisa, was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
